What’s included in the wildlife exhibits?
- New Spain Art collection with more than 150 pieces from the New Spain period (1521 to 1820) that are on permanent display at the museum.
- Trixie is the triceratops that was used in the “Night at The Museum” film. The “Jurassic Park” reproduction company made 16 life-size dinosaurs and ice age animals plus four educational play stations. In the International Hall, six dioramas representing six regions of the world were painted by university artists from Mexico City.
- Over 100 full body animal mounts
- Unique art pieces such as ceremonial masks from Latin America
- 2,000 lb. jade tiger from Taiwan
- 50 ft. Bas Relief wall mural depicting 500 million years of life from the Precambrian period to the present
- Italian bronze casting by Ettore Pascalini
- Isaac Carrasco wood carvings
- Life size replica of a flying “Quetzalcoatlus” with a 36′ wingspan
- Authentic 20,000-year-old femur bone from a mammoth
- Texas Hill Country Master Naturalist Chapter is working with the museum and planted native plants that attract butterflies and birds
